There is a great importance of flags around the world. All the countries have got their respective flags to honor their Mother Land. These flags signify dignity and love towards the country.

In India, these tri-color flags are considered something more than just an emblem. For Indians, these flags are the special banners that mirror the country's self-respect. It is the pride that we hold for our country. It’s not just a simple piece of cloth that we salute on every occasion. On the days of National interests like the Republic Day or Independence Day, people and the ministry show a sense of joy and enthusiasm.

·  On July 22, 1947, our national flag became the official flag of India. Previously, it was adopted in its present form during a meeting of the Constituent Assembly.

· One of the brave and strongest freedom fighters, Pingali Venkayya, designed our Khadi Indian flag. He was an agriculturist too.


  Mr. Mahatma Gandhi popularized the fabric khadi, a type of cotton. Later, it became a decree that khadi would be the permanent fiber to make flags.

·The Khadi Development and Village Industries Commission is the only Indian flag manufacturers who hold right to manufacture our khadi India flag.

· Because of the three colors that are present in our national flag, it is also called ‘tiranga’ in Hindi.

·         The representations of the three colors are:
Ø  Saffron represents courage and sacrifice.
Ø  White represents truth, peace, and purity.
Ø  Green represents prosperity.

· Our national flag has a ratio of two by three. It means that the length of the flag would be 1.5 times that of the width. Also, all three stripes of the flag should be equal in width and length. According to the Flag Code of India, a chakra should be there in the center of the flag. 

· At first, the size of the Ashoka Chakra was not mentioned in the Flag Code. The Ashoka Chakra has twenty-four spokes that are evenly spaced. With a color of Navy Blue, it is situated on the white stripe of the flag.


· According to Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the second President of India, the chakra represents Dharma and Law.
